JESSE VENTURA WINS $1.8 MILLION IN DEFAMATION CASE: Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura won $1.8 million Tuesday (July 29th) in a defamation case he brought against former military sniper Chris Kyle, best-selling author of the book American Sniper who has since died, who claimed in his book to have punched out Ventura in a California bar in 2006 for bad-mouthing the Navy SEALs. Ventura, who was  himself a SEAL before becoming a pro wrestler, said the legal fight was about clearing his name. Kyle, who was reputed to be the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history, said in his memoir that he punched out Ventura after he said the SEALs, quote, "deserved to lose a few" in Iraq. Ventura contended the incident never happened. After Kyle was killed last year at a Texas gun range, Ventura moved forward with the lawsuit against his widow as the defendant.
