Back when he was a young father, 81-year-old Fred Lamar enjoyed driving his kids around in his 1957 Chevy Bel Air. But as Fred got older -- and the car got older --– it was no longer practical, so for the past 30 years, the car has been parked in a garage.
Without Fred's knowledge, his grandson, Cameron Dedman, started restoring and making repairs on the car.
He recently finished the job and surprised Fred on his 81st birthday by unveiling the shiny, tuned-up ’57 Chevy – surrounded by family members from far away.
Fred, of course, was thrilled to see his beloved car in such good shape and immediately made plans with Cameron to take it to many car shows this spring and summer.
