College student Vick Liu is working toward his degree at MIT and was given an assignment to invent something that could be sold on the open market.
Vick’s idea ended up being something more than just a product on a shelf. Instead, it turned into something that could save many lives.
He created the TravlerPack, which is pretty much a water-resistant sleeping bag that’s both light and durable – and can withstand severe weather conditions.
For sure, it's something people who enjoy camping could use. But, it also ended up being something that refugees around the world could use.
Vick personally tested the TravlerPack and found that it kept him safe and warm even at temperatures in the teens and even during snowstorms.
So now, he’s raising funds to send as many TravlerPacks as possible to the refugees from Syria who are displaced because of civil war there. This invention, at first just a school assignment, will end up saving countless lives.
