A 50-year-old woman in Virginia passed away last week after a battle with pancreatic cancer, but she died happy thanks to a good friend and an even better milkshake.
Emily Pomeranz lived out her final days at home in hospice care and shared her final wish with her friend. Sam Klein asked if there was anything she'd like, and Emily answered, "I wish I could have one more Tommy’s mocha milkshake," referring to her favorite treat from her native Cleveland.
With that, Sam immediately contacted the owner of Tommy's who whipped up the special shake, packed it in a lot of dry ice and shipped it overnight. It cost Sam more than $123, but it made the 400-mile trip to Emily's home and the huge smile on her face was worth every penny.
Sam snapped a photo of Emily enjoying the milkshake and sent it to Tommy's who said, "Seeing her in that picture was just something else, I’ll tell ya. What a reward. I was so happy it worked."
Emily died four days later.
