A 17-year-old airline passenger caused quite a stir on a flight that had just landed in San Francisco when he opened an emergency door, climbed onto the wing and jumped onto the tarmac.
The Copa Airlines flight from Panama City had just arrived at San Francisco International Airport and was taxiing to the gate when the boy, who was traveling alone, pushed open the emergency door and jumped out. Fellow passengers were shocked and said it happened so fast that no one could do anything to stop him.
Workers on the tarmac saw the boy leap from the plane and held him until police arrived and placed him under arrest. No word on why he did it, but passengers sitting around him said he seemed anxious and fidgety. The plane arrived safely at the gate and no other flights were delayed.
