Cops aren't usually very forgiving of people who park illegally, but one Wisconsin driver had such a good excuse that the ticketing officer just had to let him or her go.
Officer Jim Hellroom discovered a car that was left overnight in a metered parking lot and immediately took out his ticket book. He took a closer look at the windshield and saw a note that read, "Please take pity on me. I walked home ... safe choices!"
Officer Hellroom assumed that the driver may have had too many drinks and instead of driving home, made the wise decision to leave the car and walk home instead.
He was so impressed by the decision that he printed out a ticket with no charge and a note of his own which read, "Pity granted. Just A Warning."
The officer then shared a photo of the note and the ticket on the police department's Facebook page.
