Downtown Bryan Kicks Off It's Summer Concert Series June 1

Downtown Bryan kicks off its Summer Sunset Concert Series at the Palace Theater on Thursday, June 1 with The Nightowls. The Nightowls' latest record, Royal Sessions, is an energetic blend of classic soul and modern pop, as the band transcends the "retro" tag that described their early releases in favor of a more unique sound reflective of all ten personalities, with influences running the gamut from James Brown to Michael Jackson. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m. The concert is free and drink concessions will be available.

The Summer Sunset series features a different band each Thursday night in June.

"Offering these free concerts to the public each week fits in with our mission to promote Downtown Bryan as a showcase of culture and commerce," said Sandy Farris, executive director of the Downtown Bryan Association. "We are excited about this great collection of bands. Several of them are on our regular rotation for First Friday bands, and always draw a big crowd," Farris said. Downtown merchants contribute gift certificates to be offered as door prizes during the concerts as well as tickets to future Downtown Bryan events.
