In Stockbridge, Georgia, a hospital staff was responsible for saving the life of a truck driver rolling through town – as well as taking care of his puppy while he recovered.
Jose Carbajal was driving from Texas to Georgia with his puppy Mr. Midnight when he stopped at the Piedmont Henry Hospital because of stomach pain.
A CT scan showed that Jose’s appendix was about to burst, so he was rushed into surgery and spent about a week in the hospital.
Luckily, Jose didn’t have to worry about Mr. Midnight because a technician, Deanna Mahaley, took the puppy home with her family.
Just before being discharged, Deanna’s family came with Mr. Midnight to visit. They realized that Jose would need more time to rest before he got back on the road, so they invited him to stay in their home until he was strong enough.
It all ended well when Jose got back in the truck with Mr. Midnight and began their 1,000-mile journey back to Texas, eager to get home to Jose’s wife and five kids.
