Tim McGraw opened up about undergoing several surgeries in recent years, and considering walking away from music.

McGraw, 58, and his wife, fellow country star Faith Hill, 58, have gone through several procedures, McGraw confirmed during a show over the weekend in California. He said in a fan-recorded video shared by Fox News he’s “had four back surgeries and double knee replacements. …And my wife has been going through quite a bit of surgeries. She’s had five neck surgeries, and she’s had a couple of hand surgeries.”

McGraw spotlighted his and Hill’s doctors in the audience that night, and the audience cheered. The “Humble and Kind” artist said, “after going through all of that for a couple of years and getting depressed over it …And this spring, before I had my final back surgery, things were getting really bad, so I was seriously contemplating and figuring out how to walk away. I didn't want to, but I didn't think it was going to get better.”

However, McGraw confirmed that “it’s gotten better,” and his health journey has inspired his latest song, “King Rodeo,” which arrived earlier this year. He went on to play the song for the California crowd. Watch his previously-shared performance live from the inaugural Music City Rodeo in Nashville here:
