Danielle Bradbery opened up about her new, healthy relationship after enduring a toxic one.

The Texas-born artist recently spoke with podcast host Caroline Hobby on a new episode of Get Real with Caroline Hobby. Bradbery offered an in-depth conversation about her life throughout the “raw, heartfelt” conversation. She recalled the bullying she faced in school, how she began singing, how she ended up auditioning for The Voice when she was 16 (and went on to win the competition), the state of her physical and mental health after experiencing “infidelity and deceit” in a toxic relationship and more. Now, the 28-year-old singer is sharing stories of growth “as an artist and a person, embracing the lessons learned along the way.”

Bradbery reintroduced herself to fans with her first new album in more than six years. She released the long-awaited, self-titled project earlier this month. Danielle blends country sounds with elements of pop and R&B throughout the deeply honest 7-track collection. Bradbery has been celebrating the project’s debut with album release shows throughout the month. Her next one is set for Friday night (September 27) in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I’ve learned a lot the last several years, and with Danielle I am truly representing the woman I’ve become,” Bradbery previously said in a statement. “During the recording process, it was important to not only share my story, but also my love for the ranging styles of music that raised me and have continued to inspire me my whole life. This album takes listeners on a journey that is at times heartbreaking and angry, but at its core embodies the creative freedom that anchors the entire work. I’m so proud of this album - my first in almost seven years. I hope it makes you laugh and cry and if you happen to see a piece of yourself somewhere in this; I hope you feel seen and empowered.

“I can’t tell you the roller coaster of emotions that have been running through my heart and mind up until this very moment,” Bradbery continued. “I’d be lying if I said the anxiety and nerves weren’t taking over some days but only because I have worked really hard trying to create a project that was genuine, tells a story, and had intention. That meant taking in a lot of what I learned over the past few years and also taking a look in the mirror and learning a lot about myself…the hard truths too. I have prayed with tears in my eyes, singing praise at the top of my lungs in my car about how God is so so good! All that being said I am just very thankful for all the highs and all the lows that have brought me right here. So I hope you listen and enjoy the journey behind the curtain.”
