Luke Combs posted another sneak peek of an unreleased ballad on Instagram on Tuesday evening (April 30). It’s the latest song Combs has shared that captures his life as a father of two.
“Huntin’ By Yourself” is a song “about doing things you love with your kids, but knowing they’ll grow up one day and then you’ll realize it’s never about what you’re doing but who you do it with,” the award-winning country star said as he posted a brief audio clip. As of publication time on Wednesday (May 1), more than 1,300 Instagram users have written comments about the emotional ballad, including Jordan Davis, iHeartRadio’s Brooke Taylor, Ray Fulcher, the hosts of the God’s Country podcast and many others.
Combs has also shared snippets of “The Man He Sees in Me,” an unreleased song about being the person his sons see when they look to him: “I hope he never finds out that I didn’t hang the moon/ And I’ve never scared a monster out the closet in his room/ One day between him leaving home and driving on my knee/ Maybe I’ll finally be, the man he sees in me.”
Combs and his wife, Nicole Combs, welcomed their firstborn child, son Tex Lawrence Combs, on Fathers Day in June 2022. Less than one year later, the family announced Nicole was pregnant with Baby No. 2. Their second child, son Beau Lee Combs, arrived in August 2023. The “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” star is currently on tour with Cody Jinks, The Avett Brothers, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters, The Wilder Blue, Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker and Colby Acuff.
