Brothers Osborne announced that they would drop out of a Nashville performance on Monday night (March 20) because the duo’s John Osborne ’s wife, singer-songwriter Lucie Silvas, unexpectedly went into labor early.
John and Lucie, who tied the knot in 2015, are preparing to welcome twins Maybelle and Arthur. The dad-to-be said his kids have already “picked up the Osborne tradition of arriving unannounced and could be here any second now!” That means Brothers Osborne will no longer perform at a benefit show at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee, John said in a statement on Monday:
“Hey y’all… with deepest apologies, we will be unable to attend tonight’s Love Rising event at Bridgestone. Turns out my and Lucie’s twins, Maybelle and Arthur, have picked up the Osborne tradition of arriving unannounced and could be here any second now! Lucie is a damn warrior and is currently holding down the fort from the hospital bed as I type this.
“To our dear friends that will be there tonight, on and off stage, show the world what our town is made of and let’s fight to keep Nashville full of the love, light, and inclusivity that it is known for. For that is the type of place we want to raise our children. Go get em. Love y’all. 🌈”
Brothers Osborne — the duo of John and TJ Osborne — were initially part of the star-studded lineup of LOVE RISING: A benefit concert and celebration of Life and Liberty. The event will benefit the Tennessee Equality Project, Inclusion Tennessee, Out Memphis and The Tennessee Pride Chamber in partnership with the Looking Out Foundation, per information announced earlier this month. Maren Morris, Hayley Williams, Sheryl Crow, Amanda Shires, Jason Isbell and many others are also set to take the Bridgestone Arena stage.
John announced that he and Lucie were expecting twins in a surprise moment during the 56th Annual Country Music Association Awards in November (a show that also took place at Bridgestone Arena). John made the announcement as he and TJ took the stage to accept the CMA Vocal Duo of the Year award. Silvas previously told PEOPLE: “It is such an amazing thing to be in this position to be growing two babies. When you think that you may never have the chance to have children and then suddenly you're going to have two, it's amazing.”
