Thomas Rhett’s ‘Very Hot Summer’ Tour Keeps Family Traditional Alive

Thomas Rhett insisted on including his legendary father, Rhett Akins, on the ‘Very Hot Summer’ tour lineup. As the crew gears up to kick off the run of shows tomorrow (May 17) in Spokane, Washington Thomas shared his continued excitement.

“I’m just glad to have him out there. I think there’s a lot of people that are gonna come to the concert to see my dad, like a bunch of people that loved him in the 90s. They’re gonna get to come to the show to get to watch some of the 90s influence and get to, honestly, to be blown away by how many hits he’s written in this genre.” Shared Thomas in a press statement. “And going from him to Russell Dickerson is going to be such a wild turn of events, and then to Dustin Lynch, and then to us. But I think it’s going to be a pretty well-rounded tour and I think people are going to walk away with a lot of different kind of vibes from the show.”

Thomas Rhett's dad had his greatest success as an artist during country music's glory days of the 1990s, but he's gone on to be one of the most successful and prolific songwriters in contemporary country music.

In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Thomas shared that he is really proud of his album and can't wait to share it with fans on the road, but has a focused goal for this year and he is taking it seriously.

“I want to live simpler this year. More minimalistic,” shared Thomas. “Just in every facet of life. Whether that’s the way that me and my family spend time together to us just sitting at the house and really enjoying each other’s company. I feel like last year was so busy that we didn’t really spend a lot of time just to sit with each other. So, this year it’s all about simplicity to me.”
