San Antonio Airport Deals With Escaped Baboon

An escaped monkey caused some excitement at San Antonio International Airport yesterday.

Officials say a rhesus macaque monkey named Dawkins had just arrived on an American Airlines flight from Chicago when the intelligent primate figured out how to get out of its cage and took off running. It was eventually captured in the baggage handling area after two hours on the run. Despite briefly causing some chaos, no flights were delayed.

The monkey is said to be a retired research animal that was recently released from Brown University in Rhode Island. It is on its way to an animal sanctuary and refuge outside of San Antonio.
